Sweetest Face I've Ever Seen
Family seeing Griffin for the first time!
We have been blessed with the most precious baby boy! Griffin was born on Sunday, February 22, at 9:02 am. We had come to the hospital Saturday at around 1:00 because I was having contractions and running a slight temperature. By the time they got us in, my temp had gone up and the babies heart rate was being affected. So they decided to break my water and let my body go into labor. I had the epidural pretty quick (thank goodness) and labored all night long. I got to nine and a half centimeters but stayed there for several hours until the doctors decided a c section would be the best way to get him here. We were all in for a HUGE surprise when they pulled little Griffin out and found he wasn't so little after all. He weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 5.5 oz! My doctor couldn't believe it and they now think my due date was not accurate and that Griffin was probably a week overdue. They had to take him to NICU right away because he was running a slight fever :(. They are doing some blood cultures to make sure everything is ok, but so far so good. We are hoping to have him out of NICU tomorrow morning and go home Wed. It has been the hardest thing ever not to be able to feed or cuddle fully with my sweet little boy, but they want me fever free for 24 hours before I can breast feed. Griffin is such an amazing baby. We've only heard him cry once while we were changing him, but he is easily soothed and recognizes our voices right away. Jason has been absolutely amazing! He has taken on the role of being a dad like a champ. He rushed down there this morning so he could change Griffin's diaper and swaddle him before I came in to give him a bottle. He has taken such good care of me as well. Please pray for our little one, that we can all go home together on Wednesday. We know we have been so blessed!
